By making an appointment, whether you’re shopping for a wedding dress, mother’s gown, bridesmaids dresses, suits or tuxedoes, you are reserving one-on-one time with our trained stylists to help find you the perfect attire for your big day. Shopping for a wedding dress is totally different from walking into a department store, we are a small business that focuses on you! Wedding dress shopping can be an emotional experience that you want to share with your closest friends and family. Your experience can be whatever you want it to be. That’s why we are here to make it the best personalized shopping experience you’ve ever had! Yes! Having something for everyone is very important to us here at Stella’s. Our in-store sample wedding dresses range from sizes 4-32, with available sizing from 00-34 for special order. Don’t worry if you don’t fit into traditional bridal sizing – no one really does. Everyone needs little tweaks here and there! That’s why we offer in house alterations. We also work closely with customizable designers, such as Casablanca Bridal, that offer full custom sizing – the dress is made from scratch to your exact measurements! Budget wise, most wedding dresses in our store do not exceed $3000, with majority being below $2000 and a selection of off-the-rack dresses for $1200 and under. When should I start shopping?
We recommend that you start shopping for your wedding dress about 1 year out from your wedding. It does take about 6-9 months to receive a wedding dress if you special order it. We work with many different designers all over the world; including gowns from the Netherlands, Spain, India, Taiwan, and Australia. However, many of our designers have US based warehouses and can get us gowns even faster! Some of our designers offer rush orders and we are able to get you your dream dress within 4 months if needed. We are able to get the gown even sooner if our designer has the size and color you need in stock. Alternatively, many of our brides decide to purchase the sample gown that we have in store right off the rack at a discount! So, no need to worry if you’re on a time crunch. We will find you your dream dress, no matter what!
For bridesmaids we recommend starting shopping about 8 months out and ordering them about 5-6 months out from the wedding. Most bridesmaids dresses take about 4 months to come in, and you always want to leave some time in-case your girls need some alterations on their dresses. However, don’t worry, if you have a closer wedding date, many of our designers offer rush orders and can get you all the colors and sizes you need as soon as 1 month out.
For our mother’s and formalwear clients – we recommend starting to shop around the same time as bridesmaids – 8 months out – and making a decision about 5-6 months out to allow plenty of time for the gown to arrive and any alterations you may need. We can also get our formal gowns on a rush, as well!
For Suits and Tuxedoes we recommend picking out your look about 6 months out and having your groomsmen fitted around 3-4 months out from the wedding. This way we can ensure a proper fit.
Do you have alterations? How much are they?
Yes we do! We have amazing in-house seamstresses with years of experience in couture bridal fittings and a degree in couture sewing. Our owner also has over 30 years experience and used to make wedding gowns herself. Wedding dress altering is an art form and requires talent as well. Many times bridal seamstresses must take apart a gown and put it back together again to make it fit correctly, all while making it look like it has never been touched. Our seamstress can alter your wedding dress and even help you design your own by adding sleeves, adding custom beading, making a custom veil and much, much more!
We know that budgeting is very important in wedding planning, so we do recommend budgeting about $200-$900 for your wedding dress alterations – depending on the complexity of your dress and how much needs to be altered. However, our couture bridal fittings are a-la-carte, meaning that you only get what you need. If you just need a hem, you just get a hem. You only pay for what you need, etc. Buying your dress with us also doesn’t tie you to getting your alterations done with us. You are welcome to go elsewhere if you know someone you trust.
Our couture bridal seamstress will estimate alterations cost for you at your fitting appointment. If you decide you do not want to get your alterations done with us, there is a $50 consultation fee for wedding dress fittings, and a $25 consultation fee for all other fittings, to compensate her time she took to estimate your dress.
If you did not buy your dress with us but have heard wonderful things about our seamstress, we would love to help you! We offer couture bridal fittings for outside purchases for a starting fee of $100 for Bridal and $50 for all other clothing bought elsewhere.
Credit Card info is required upon booking your alterations appointment. If you neglect to show or cancel your appointment within less than 48 hours, your card will be charged a $50 fee. This policy is for all alterations appointments. This fee is to compensate our seamstress for her time.
When I say yes to the dress, what's next?
Congratulations! You’re a Stella’s Bride! When you said yes to the dress, you should have recieved a folder containing your ✨Bridal Timeline✨ and lots of other helpful info! This is the best reference for when to come in for the rest of your wedding party’s attire! It also goes over all of the discounts you are welcome to now that you are a Stella’s Bride!
